Education and Experience:
William T. McCartan earned his bachelor's degree from Creighton University in 1987 and received his law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School, magna cum laude, in 1991. Before joining Bradley & Riley PC, Mr. McCartan practiced with the Chicago, Illinois law firm of Ungaretti & Harris.
Bar Admissions:
Mr. McCartan is licensed to practice in the Iowa and Illinois State Courts, the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa, and the United States District Court for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois. Mr. McCartan is also licensed to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh and Eighth Circuits.
Memberships and Positions:
Mr. McCartan is a member of the American Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association and the Linn County Bar Association. He is the President of the Sixth Judicial District Bar Association and has served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Linn County Bar Association. He has also been a member of the Executive Council of the Young Lawyers Division of the Iowa State Bar Association. He is a member of the Business Law Section Council and the Securities Regulation Subcommittee of the Business Law Section of the Iowa State Bar Association and a member of the Securities Litigation Committee of the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association.
Of Mention:
Mr. McCartan is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Xavier High School Foundation as well as a member of the Board of Education of the Archdiocese of Dubuque and the Board of Directors of the Entrepreneurial Development Center. He has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of East Central Iowa, President of the All Saints Parish Board of Education and President of the Executive Board of the Regis High School Alumni Association. He has been a volunteer for Mount Mercy College, Tanager Place and the YMCA. Mr. McCartan is a graduate of the Leadership for Five Seasons Program of the Greater Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
