Mr. Thompson is a member of the American Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, the Nebraska State Bar Association, the Linn County Bar Association, and the Johnson County Bar Association. He chaired the Federal Practice Committee and has served as a member of the Litigation Section Council, the Law Practice Management Section Council, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution, Professionalism and Technology Committees of the Iowa State Bar Association. He is a member of the Dispute Resolution, Law Practice Management, and Litigation Sections of the American Bar Association. Mr. Thompson was one of the founders of the Dean Mason L. Ladd American Inn of Court and served as its President in 1991-1992. Mr. Thompson has served as a faculty member for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy's Mid-America Regional, Pacific Regional, Southern California Regional, Denver Deposition Program, and the Drake Legal Services Program. In addition to professional memberships and activities, Mr. Thompson is active in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City communities. He serves as a member of the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra Association Board of Directors and is a member of the Artistic and Marketing Committees of that organization. He recently served on the Music Director Search Committee of the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra Association and on the Board of Directors of the Cedar Rapids Symphony Foundation. He serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Iowa City Public Library Friends Foundation and is on the Board of Directors for the Summer of the Arts, Inc. in Iowa City. Mr. Thompson is also a member of the Citizens Advisory Committee of KCCK-88.3, Iowa’s only full-time jazz radio station.
